History of COPC

Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. was founded in 1976. The goal of the practice, then and now, is to provide the highest quality eye care to patients. The practice continued this tradition of dedicated service by Drs. David A. Hill and Martin Wand with the addition of Drs. John C. Madigan, C. Mitchell Gilbert, Martin G. Edwards, John B. Franklin, Michael P. Gingold and Craig A. Mehldau to support the ever-expanding field of ophthalmology and provide more comprehensive care to our patients.

Our physicians are all Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and have completed advanced training at highly respected medical schools with additional specialty training at other well-known institutions. They maintain various academic affiliations to teach and keep abreast of the latest developments in their chosen area of specialization.

Through their specialized experience and expertise, the doctors offer their own unique perspective on eye care. Treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, conditions of the cornea, contact lenses, refractive surgery, diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous, and plastic reconstructive and cosmetic surgery is available at Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C.

Our goal is to offer our patients the ophthalmologic services that will provide the best advice and care for your ocular health and good vision. Our contact lens division and two optical shops maintain this resolve to better serve the needs of our patients.

The offices of Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. are located at 499 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, Connecticut and 704 Hebron Avenue, Suite 200, Glastonbury, Connecticut with optical shops in both locations. The offices are designed to deliver optimal high quality patient care in a convenient and personalized setting, using the latest in diagnostic and treatment technology. Our diagnostic services include automated visual field analysis, A-scan and B-scan ultrasonography, specular microscopy, topography of the cornea, optical coherent tomography, and a comprehensive photography department. Major ocular surgery is performed at Constitution Eye Surgery Center in Newington, Connecticut and at The Eye Institute of Hartford Hospital.
