Clinical Assistant
Clinical assistants work in the office setting. In this position you would:
- document physician exam findings in patient chart
- occasionally assist physician with exam and minor procedures
- coordinate patient activity within office (i.e., exam, ancillary testing, surgical scheduling)
- instruct patients in medication usage
- perform ancillary testing
- prepare exam and treatment rooms
Skills and experience needed: Previous medical office experience a plus. Excellent written and verbal skills. Must like working with people in busy environment.
Ophthalmic Technician
Ophthalmic technicians work independently with patients. Technician work-ups include the following:
- obtain medical history
- measure visual acuity
- evaluate motility, color vision
- lensometry, keratometry, refraction
- visual field testing
- additional ancillary tests
