Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. has optical shops at both the Farmington and Glastonbury offices through its subsidiary, Consulting Optical Shop. These full service optical shops offer frames for every budget, including designer frames and sports eyewear. We also stock a wide variety of readers, accessories and low vision aids.
Our shops are staffed by professional, licensed opticians with years of optical experience. Our team includes Brian Kochol, Phil Gordon, Deirdre Kavanaugh, Peter Morrissey and Jannie Shapiro (Optical Manager). Consulting Optical Shops offer competitive prices with professional experienced care. We participate in many insurance plans and offer discounts with AAA and AARP memberships.
Jannie Shapiro, M.Ed., is also our low vision consultant, available to assess patient’s low vision needs at our Farmington optical shop. Low vision is a loss of vision that cannot be improved with regular glasses or contact lenses and interferes with everyday function and performance. Often, vision impairments are caused by age-related diseases; such as, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts. Vision loss can affect any age group; however, remaining vision can often be enhanced through the use of magnifiers, telescopes, special lighting and other low vision devices.
