Ophthalmic Technician

Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. is seeking a full-time ophthalmic technician due to a new doctor joining our practice. Certification is preferred.

Candidates must be proficient in refracting, pachymetry, use of slit lamp, and accurate chart documentation of measurements, ancillary tests, and patient medical history. Experience with OCT and photography a plus. Must have the ability to interact with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by the practice, as well as the following:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Demonstrated comprehension of the ophthalmic technician skills as outlined by the Joint Commission of Allied Health
  • Personnel
  • Personable, empathetic with patient, doctor and staff needs and concerns
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and good typing skills
  • Medical terminology knowledge
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to travel to clinic locations as needed (Farmington and Glastonbury)

Medical Receptionist

Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. is seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist to be part of a great team in a highly respected ophthalmic practice in central CT (Farmington and Glastonbury). Our growing practice includes ten Ophthalmologists and four Optometrists.

Duties include (but are not limited to): receptionist duties including checking patients in and out at the front desk, verifying insurance, accepting copays, scheduling appointments, etc..

This position also offers the diversity of answering our extremely busy appointment phone lines on days when you are not assigned to the front desk. Other duties may be required, as assigned.

Office is Open Monday – Friday (hours vary from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM).

Job Requirements:

Must have the ability to interact with patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by our practice, as well as the following:

  • Eligible candidate should have medical office experience.
  • Must be dependable and organized, and exhibit a positive attitude.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
  • Candidate must be personable and empathetic with patients, doctors and fellow staff.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be well-organized, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy, Compulink (EHR) software a plus.
  • The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in an ophthalmology or optometry a plus.
  • Ability to travel between two clinic locations, as needed (Farmington and Glastonbury).

Ophthalmic Writer / Scribe (Farmington / Glastonbury)

Consulting Ophthalmologists is seeking a full-time ophthalmic scribe/writer. We offer on the job training for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Chart documentation in an EMR alongside physician, accurately maintaining patient EMR.
  • Assisting in minor ophthalmic procedures.
  • Performing peripheral vision testing.
  • Assisting in minor ophthalmic procedures.
  • Providing written instructions and/or patient education materials, ensuring patient understands all instructions.
  • Ensuring patient-flow. Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • Medical Assistant background / schooling.
  • Previous experience in a medical office a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; medical terminology knowledge
  • Excellent spelling and keyboard skills.
  • Must be able to type in a dimly-lit setting.
  • Ability to travel between clinic locations (Farmington/Glastonbury)
